EMDR & Trauma Therapy in California

When painful experiences keep echoing into the present, the right kind of therapy can help your mind and body finally move forward. I'm trained in EMDR and the Trauma Resiliency Model and work with adults across California.

Trauma isn't only the event that happened—it's the way that event keeps living in your nervous system long after it's over. You might find yourself bracing for danger that isn't there, feeling flooded by emotions that seem out of proportion, or going numb to protect yourself. None of that means something is wrong with you. It means your system did exactly what it was built to do to survive, and it hasn't yet learned that it's safe to let go.

Trauma-focused therapy gives that process a way forward. Rather than reliving the past, we work to help your brain and body finish processing it—so the memory becomes something that happened, rather than something that's still happening.

Does this sound familiar?

Signs therapy could help

  • Intrusive memories, flashbacks, or nightmares
  • Feeling constantly on edge, watchful, or unsafe
  • Strong reactions that feel bigger than the moment
  • Going numb, shutting down, or feeling disconnected
  • Avoiding people, places, or reminders of what happened
  • Difficulty trusting, or feeling safe in relationships
  • Carrying shame or self-blame about your experiences
  • Knowing something happened, but feeling stuck around it

You don't need to be in crisis to deserve support. If a few of these resonate, that's reason enough to reach out.

How I work with trauma

My approach is grounded, paced, and collaborative. We never rush into the hardest material; we build safety and resourcing first, so the deeper work always happens within your window of tolerance.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a well-researched therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories using bilateral stimulation—gentle, alternating left-right cues. Over time, memories that once felt raw lose their charge, and the beliefs they created about you can shift toward something truer and kinder.

The Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)

TRM is a body-based approach that works directly with the nervous system. Together we learn to notice and steady the physical sensations of distress, rebuilding a felt sense of calm and safety.

What to expect

We begin with a free consultation and some early sessions building stability. Trauma work is not linear, and you stay in control of the pace throughout.

Common questions

What people often ask

Can EMDR be done online?

Yes. EMDR translates well to telehealth, using on-screen visual or self-administered tactile cues, over a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform throughout California.

How long does trauma therapy take?

It depends on your history and goals. Some people notice meaningful relief within a few months; complex trauma often benefits from longer-term work.

Will I have to talk about every detail of what happened?

No. EMDR in particular does not require you to describe everything in depth. We work at a pace that feels manageable, and you remain in control of what you share.

Is EMDR safe?

EMDR is a widely used, evidence-based therapy recognized for treating trauma and PTSD. We build safety and coping resources before processing.
